Apply for a Site Evaluation
Download the Site Evaluation Application in Word or Adobe PDF format. Complete the form and stop by the Health Department to pay your fees and set a time.
A Site Evaluation is the process of determining what size and type of septic system is appropriate for a specific piece of land or if a septic system is even appropriate. Some land, say on the face of a steep slope, is not appropriate for the placement of an on-site septic system.
During a site evaluation, a sanitarian will look at the soil profile (what type and texture of soil exists in the area of the proposed drainfield), general lay of the land and proximity to surface water, wells, property lines, etc.
You can see the entire section of the regulation on Site Evaluations for more detail about the process.
For those who want to become Site Evaluators, the following link will take you to a portable document format (PDF) version of the MCCHD Site Evaluation Manual.
