Plants wilt, foliage looks burned; preceded by pale green areas forming on leaves
Squash bug (Anasa tristus)
Runner or part of a runner wilts suddenly
Squash vine borer (Melitta satyriniformis)
Leaves wilt, yellow, and curl
Aphids (various)
Vines wilt and die gradually, starting with newer leaves; no leaf yellowing is present
Bacterial wilt (Erwinia tracheiphila)
Leaf holes on young plants
Striped and spotted Cucumber beetles (Acalymma vittata)
Yellow spots on leaves with mottling, distortion and wrinkling of older leaves
Mosaic viruses
Leaves are yellow and puckered and become bronzed
Mites
Older leaves mottled yellow between veins
Downy mildew (Peronospora effusa)
Leaf spots that begin as water-soaked, then turn gray, die and drop out leaving foliage with a shot-hole appearance
Angular leafspot (Pseudomonas syringae)
Dark brown spots with concentric rings on older leaves first; vines defoliate eventually
