PLACE Project - History
The scope and direction of this landscape assessment has evolved over time through discussions with a variety of interest groups, residents, resource experts, and county staff. The goal is to design the landscape assessment so as to best meet the needs and interests of Missoula County residents. It is expected that elements of the landscape assessment will continue to grow and evolve as we are able to gather input from a variety of interests.

Summer 2010 Community Input Meetings
Rural
Initiatives shared PLACE project purpose and resource data in a series
of meetings throughout the county during summer 2010. A key
purpose for the
meetings was to seek public
input on the project. Rural
Initiatives solicited comments about that data and how it might be used,
asked for help in identifying additional information that should be
included, and asked about other ways RI can make the information
available to support discussions about conservation of working lands,
recreation resources, historic sites, wildlife and other topics.
RI collected input at the following 2010 meetings:
-
June 7: Seeley Lake
Community Council, 6pm
-
June 8: Lolo Community
Council, 7pm
-
June 10: West Valley
Community Council, 6pm
-
June 14: Bonner Community
Council, 7pm
-
June 23: Open House, Missoula Children's Theater Center for
Performing Arts in downtown Missoula, 3pm to 8pm, with presentations
at 4pm and at 6pm
-
June 29: Lubrecht Experimental Forest, 7pm, hosted by the Blackfoot
Home and Community Club
-
July 20: Swan Valley
Community Council, 7pm
