Animal Control would like to remind Missoula citizens that pets cannot be leashed to a tree, bike rack, street sign, or other item that is on public property. We commonly see this practice along the sidewalks in the downtown area. Again, animals can be unpredictable, to include being scared in your absence, and may react differently around a stranger who tries to pet them or simply walks too close to them. The last thing you want is your pet being taken by a stranger. Many businesses in our downtown area allow leashed pets into their business while you shop. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Starting on June 1, dog adoptions will be raised from $75 to $85. This increase is to help pay for the cost of micro chipping our dogs that we put up for adoption. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Animal Control will be having an adoption event on Friday May 17 from 10-2. It will be held at First Security Bank on North Reserve. We will have cats and dogs for adoption. If you do rent your home, please make sure to bring proof from a landlord that it is ok for you to have a pet in your home. The shelter will also be open during this event so if you don't find anything that strikes your fancy at the event, we encourage you to head on down to the shelter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upcoming Events: June 11- We are participating in the annual "Just One Day" event. Shelters across the nation will be no kill for this one day. Participants in this event will have adoption specials and will not euthanize any animals on this day. We encourage everyone to come down to the shelter if you have been considering adoption.
Aug 17- Pet Fest, Caras Park
