FRIENDS OF THE SHELTER

MISSION STATEMENT: To provide services insuring the humane treatment of animals in our community; to provide support to Missoula City/County Animal Control, its policies and procedures; and to facilitate the adoption and reclamation of animals housed in the Animal Control Shelter.

Friends of the Shelter carries out its mission in four specific areas:

1. Helps pet owners with the cost of spaying and neutering their animals in order to help curb animal over-population.

2. Helps pet owners with other unexpected medical costs of illness or injury to their pets.

3. Helps shelter pets with medications, surgeries, treatments, and lab tests that would not be covered by the Animal Control's general budget.

4. Helps owners and adopters take home animals from the shelter by providing assistance with costs associated with adoption, reclamations, licensing, grooming, etc.

Each Each request is handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on total cost and necessity of services, ability of the pet owner to pay, and desire on the part of the organization to be able to help as many people and pets as possible.

Friends of the Shelter is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit auxiliary to Missoula Animal Control.  For information about the organization, donations, or requests for assistance, please call Animal Control at (406) 541-7387.
