Precinct & Polling Place Consolidation

Updated 1/15/2010

After listening to additional public comment and the revised staff report from Clerk & Recorder Vickie Zeier, the Missoula County Commissioners adopted the secondary proposal to consolidate precincts and polling places. On January 13th, 2010, the County Commissioners voted unanimously to reduce the number of precincts from 102 to 51 and reduce the number of polling places from 37 to 29. One amendment to the second proposal was adopted which moves the polling location for voters in former precincts 94 and 95 from Rattlesnake School to the Missoula Public Library.

The move to consolidate precincts and reduce the number polling places stems from the County’s difficulty in recruiting and retaining qualified election judges. If you’re interested in becoming an election judge, you can find more information here.

Every voter whose precinct number changed will receive a new voter registration card in the mail in March. The card will include the polling location for the new precinct.
