How to Apply for a Septic Permit
- Read our document "Property Owner's Guide to getting a Septic
System Permit".
- Download the Septic and Well Permit Application in
Word or
Adobe PDF Format or
pickup an application at our office located at 301 W Alder, Second Floor
(Health Dept).
- Complete the application form and assemble the information required
below. Bring the supporting information and the application to our
office. The Department will deny or issue a permit within 3 days, the
fee will be due when picking up the permit. (see fee schedule for septic
fees).
- Effective February 18th, 2010 there is a $100 application fee
for all septic permits. The Health Code states that the
application fee is nonrefundable.
The overall fees didn't change. Instead, this allows us to collect part of the fees at the beginning of the process to cover the Department’s costs for writing septic permits. The balance of the fee (for example, $145 for a basic permit or $200 for a pressure permit) would be collected when the permit is issued.
- Requirements. A permit shall be required for the installation, repair and increased use of all wastewater treatment and disposal systems except for repairs to piping between a structure and a septic tank or a septic tank and a header to an absorption system. Parcels must be recorded with the County Clerk and Recorder before a permit will be issued by the Department. Permits will only be issued in the name of the parcel's owner. A permit shall be issued by the Department following the submittal of a complete and accurate permit application form and a satisfactory site evaluation. All systems must receive final approval from the Department or from a certified installer authorized by the Department to conduct a final inspection in order for a permit to remain valid. The Department may place any conditions on a permit which will facilitate compliance with the provisions of this regulation or subdivision approval.

following information:
