HOSTS: Pine or other conifers (usually only at high elevations). See fir, spruce.

DESCRIPTION: Brown, felt-like mats grow over needles and twigs binding them together and killing them. Most evident in spring after snow melts.

LIFE CYCLE: The fungus grows at 26 – 32° F.

CONTROLS: REMOVE AND DESTROY infected branches.
