Health Boards - Members
The same seven members serve on the Health, Air Pollution Control and Water Quality District Boards, with the addition of an eighth member on the Water Quality District Board who represents the Conservation District.

Position Vacant (Water Quality District Board only)
Serves as the eight member on the Water Quality District Board at the pleasure of the Conservation District Board.
Appointment to the Boards
Membership on the Health, Air Pollution Control and Water Quality District Boards is established by Montana Code Annotated 50-2-106, by two joint City and County of Missoula interlocal agreements, a resolution by the Board of County Commissioners and by a joint City and County of Missoula resolution.
County Appointees
The Missoula Board of County Commissioners appoints three members, one of whom may be a County Commissioner.
- Two citizen appointees serve three year terms.
- One appointee (usually a County Commissioner) serves at the pleasure of the Commissioners.
- One appointee, who must be a member of the Conservation District, serves a three year term on the Water Quality District Board only.
City Appointees
The Missoula City Council appoints three members, one of whom may be a City Council member.
- Two citizen appointees serve three year terms.
- One appointee (usually a City Council member) serves at the pleasure of the City Council.
Board Appointee
The Board of Health appoints one at-large member, who must be a licensed physician, subject to approval by the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council. The appointee serves a three-year term.
