DARSZD

The Double Arrow Rural Special Zoning District (DARSZD) is the result of a request from the Double Arrow Ranch and Landowners Association (DARLOA) to create a zoning district based on the 2010 Seeley Lake Regional Plan. The Missoula County Community and Planning Services Department has been working with DARLOA to draft zoning standards that conform to both the Seeley Lake Regional Plan and the existing DARLOA covenants.

The DARSZD area is approximately 2,919 acres in size. The district is located immediately south of the community of Seeley Lake east of highway 83. The Double Arrow Rural Special Zoning District calls for a mix of rural residential use classifications to implement the land use designations called for in the 2010 Seeley Lake Regional Plan. It also establishes a specific set of general requirements, nonconforming use provisions, and Wildland Urban Interface building standards.

This is a zoning proposal for a rural special zoning district, as authorized under Chapter 6 of the Missoula County Zoning Resolution.

Update!

Comments

Missoula County Community and Planning Services staff has received a request from the President of the Double Arrow Ranch and Land Owners Association (DARLOA) for a 120 day delay of the public process for further review and discussion of the zoning proposal with residents of the ranch. DARLOA also requested a version of the DARSZD zoning proposal with the WUI standards removed. The requested example zoning proposal can be found here. Staff will continue to review comments as they are received.
