Missoula Online Statistical System (MOSS)

The Mi ssoula Online Statistical System (MOSS) (accessed by clicking on the revolving globe to the left) has been developed by the Missoula Office of Planning and Grants to provide a gateway to demographic information at the county, urban area, and neighborhood (block group) level. Currently, MOSS incorporates detailed census comparisons between 1990 and 2000 using long-form census data. Aggregated parcel level data have been included to supplement the 2000 Census data.  The Census 2000 Demographic Profiles for the Census Designated Places (CDP) within the county are also available in .pdf format.  CDP's include places like the City of Missoula and Seeley Lake.  The system has been designed to include a wide variety of information that will provide access to a broad spectrum of community indicators.

New additions and updates to MOSS will be posted on this site. The full project is currently available on CD from the Office of Planning and Grants or through our ftp site at ftp://www.co.missoula.mt.us/opgftp/MOSS/. The zipped database file is 156MB and requires Microsoft Access 2000. The application requires a minimum of 600MB of hard-drive space.

The website offers baseline demographic information and numerous downloadable data files. However, the site does not have the full functionality of the Microsoft Access 2000 database application.
