Property Information System Help
New Look, Same System
The older system has been recently updated to take on the same theme as the remainder of the Missoula County site to bring it up to the same standards. It functions just as before with some minor changes in presentation.
Why Two Systems?
Although we recently launched the new Flash-based Property Information System, we continue to offer this older system for those who spend more time conducting simple data searches as opposed to the map.
Printing
Printing the result pages in the updated system is similar to the old way except there are some minor differences based on what browser you are using while printing. For best print results you may have to make some minor adjustments using "Print Preview" preferences. Depending on the page you are printing you may wish to change page orientation from portrait (vertical) to landscape (horizontal). You may also want to use the option of "Shrink to Fit" available on most browser's "Print Preview" feature. If you use Opera you will have to change the print options before you use the print preview by going to File --> Print Options where you can check the option to "Fit to paper width" and set the "Scale print to" option to something equal to or less than 100%. This window is also where you would change paper orientation using the button at the top of the window.
For printing, we turn off all images and change colors to basic black and white. If you want to print the document just as you see it, you can first perform a "Print Screen" and paste the image into a Microsoft Word or similar document then print.
Searches: Property and Records
The search features are divided up based on whether you are searching for information for a parcel (property) or for recorded documents.
For property searches you can search based on the following attributes:
- Name (if you are a subscriber)
- Address
- Tax ID (tax identification number)
- Geocode (unique identifier for parcels)
- Map (http://www.co.missoula.mt.us/propertyinformation). The older map at http://www.co.missoula.mt.us/owner/map is no longer fully compatible with the latest browsers. If you can find ways to make this map work, you can still use it.
For record searches you can search based on the following attributes:
- Name (if you are a subscriber)
- Address
- Tax ID (tax identification number)
- Geocode (unique identifier for parcels)
- Book/Page
- Advanced (you can select a document type, date range and use first/last names)
Subscriber Service
The ability to search based on name and advanced features is only available to those who purchase a subscriber service to access these features. Although the information provided here is public information, the Missoula County Commissioner's have asked us to disable name and advanced feature searches for the general public as a protective measure. Licensed businesses can apply for subscriber service. The annual fee for this service is $400.
