Superintendent of Schools
Missoula Area Education Cooperative
The Missoula Area Education Cooperative has been providing services for over 20 years. Our purpose is to provide students with related services such as speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school psychology, etc. Many of our small district schools do not have resources to hire employees in these fields so we employ the personnel and rotate them to serve the schools as needed. At present we have eight speech/language pathologists, two speech assistants, seven school psychologists, one physical therapist, one occupational therapist, one teacher, and two counselors on staff. A referral system is in place in each of our member schools to make available the needed services.
We currently provide services to 17 school districts over a four county area that includes Missoula, Lake, Sanders and Mineral counties. The school districts we serve are Alberton, Arlee, Bonner, Charlo, Clinton, DeSmet, Dixon, Lolo, Potomac, St. Ignatius, Seeley Lake, Sunset, Superior, Swan Valley and Woodman.
Our funding comes from federal grants, state allocated money, and billings to the individual schools to cover the shortfall. The combined enrollment in our 17 member school districts is 3,770 students.
